Kalaburagi: A private educational institution in Kalaburagi received a hoax bomb threat email on Tuesday.
Upon receiving the information, Kalaburagi City Police Commissioner Dr. Sharanappa S.D., along with Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Praveen H. Nayak and Assistant Commissioner of Police (South Division) Bhootegowda V.S., rushed to the spot.
“As a precautionary measure, students were immediately evacuated from the premises. The Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) and the Anti-Sabotage Check (ASC) team conducted a thorough inspection. No explosives were found,” Sharanappa told Deccan Chronicle.
A case has been registered at the Ashok Nagar Police Station. Officials confirmed that the email was a false threat and urged students, parents, and the public not to panic. Investigations are underway to identify the source of the email.
While the subject was in English and mentioned a bomb, the email itself was in Tamil, discussing politics, and had no connection to the bomb threat at the school.
Kalaburagi police have reached out to their counterparts in Tamil Nadu for further investigation.
