BENGALURU: The BJP has protested the presence of Agastha, grandson Karnataka minister Dr H.C. Mahadevappa, on the ceremonial jeep along with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar during jumbo savari, the finale of Mysore c, a state event, in Mysuru city on Thursday.

The BJP Karnataka unit on Friday asked: “What protocol applies for Mahadevappa’s grandson that he can to go in the ceremonial jeep? Why was he allowed to go in the vehicle.”

Following widespread criticism, the Congress leadership in New Delhi has reportedly sought a report from the state leaders.

The BJP pointed to previous incidents of family members of Congress ministers joining a government event, particularly at a function to congratulate Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on winning Indian Premier League (IPL)-2025 in Vidhana Soudha in June this year.

Then, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s grandson and son of minister Zameer Ahmed Khan were present. BJP said the Mysuru Dasara protocol violation showed that “no lesson learnt by the Congress government.”
