BJP MP Identifies Lacunae In Newly Inaugurated Metro Yellow Line

Apart from the need to increase train frequency on Yellow Line, Tejasvi Surya asked BMRCL to install Platforms Screen Doors, barricades, accurate signages and deploy additional security personnel to prevent accidents

BENGALURU: Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated Namma Metro Yellow Line of 19.15-km in Bengaluru on Sunday and a day after its inauguration, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Lok Sabha member Tejasvi Surya on Monday identified lacunae in the newly inaugurated Yellow Line particularly trains operating at a frequency of 25-minutes from its origin point RV road to Bommasandra, could lead to overcrowding.

In a release, BMRCL stated “frequency of services will be increased as and when more train sets are commissioned.” Meanwhile, a letter to Managing Director of Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL), by Tejasvi Surya, representing Bengaluru South Lok Sabha seat, brought to the notice of the BMRCL MD the number of train sets running on existing Purple Line (Chalaghatta to Whitefield) and Green Line of Namma Metro are at a frequency of 4-8 minutes while the Yellow Line frequency is about 25-minutes.

“This disparity might pose an issue of overcrowding at the interchange station of RV road especially during peak hours due to walk-in crowds along with regular commuters from the Green Line (Madavara to Silk Institute),” said the MP.

Apart from the need to increase train frequency on Yellow Line, Tejasvi Surya asked BMRCL to install Platforms Screen Doors, barricades, accurate signages and deploy additional security personnel to prevent accidents and overcrowding at the RV road metro station.

On Yellow Line, BMRCL stated, trains will start at 6.30 am from both terminals-RV road and Delta Electronics Bommasandra metro station and running time on the route is about 35-minutes in each direction with halts at every station. As many as 16 stations are located from RV road to Bommasandra.
