BJP MLA Allegs “Fake” Social Media Account in His Name

Jayanagar MLA files cybercrime complaint over alleged fake greeting post

Bengaluru: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA C.K. Ramamurthy alleged that a “fake” social account has been created in his name by some unidentified persons to post a greeting message to a woman.

The screenshot of the alleged greeting post to the woman was circulated on Wednesday, prompting the MLA to file a complaint with Banashankari Cyber Crime police of Bengaluru city. He represents Jayanagar Assembly seat in Bengaluru city.

C.K. Ramamurthy said earlier his social media account was hacked twice, and in one of the “fake” accounts alleged he used abusive language against a particular organization. But nothing substantial happened from the police.

The fake social media accounts in his name started after he won the 2023 Assembly election from Jayanagar, he pointed out.

He suspected the role of the social media team attached to Jayanagar Youth Congress Committee and stated such “fake” accounts have been created to tarnish his image.

The MLA doubted the social media team of Jayanagar Youth Congress Committee; they themselves created fake social media accounts and circulated it.
