BJP Creating Communal Rift In Coastal Karnataka, Accuses Karnataka Dy CM
Shivakumar appealed to the leaders of BJP and other organisations to release the gravity of the situation prevailing in Coastal Karnataka

Bengaluru: “We (the State Government) are trying to bring down communal tensions in Coastal Karnataka but the leaders of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and other organisations are trying to provoke people on communal lines leading to tensions,” accused Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar and he observed “Communal tensions have caused a big blow for Coastal Karnataka resulting in significant losses for the region and also to the State.”
In Bengaluru, Shivakumar, in a chat with reporters on Friday, appealed to the leaders of BJP and other organisations to release the gravity of the situation prevailing in Coastal Karnataka and also they should understand that investments are not coming to Coastal Karnataka. Businessmen are hesitant to invest while people of the region are anxious over the prevailing situation.
He wanted the people of Coastal Karnataka, especially Mangaluru, to understand that communal tensions will affect their lives eventually and people should also note that youths of the region have been deserting the place and migrating to other places in search for employment.
“We have taken steps to protect all sections of the society. Besides, official report on the situation in Coastal Karnataka region, a team of Congress party will interact with the public and come out with a report. We want to establish peace in the region,” he stated. In response to a query, “Our government has taken the issue of officials not responding to public complaints” and wanted “Officials to respond.”
