Bidar: Several students of a government school at Jamalapur in Aurad taluk developed symptoms of vomiting and uneasiness after consuming the mid-day meal on Tuesday.
Initially, four students complained of vomiting. Soon, several others reported similar symptoms, taking the number of affected students to around 15-20. Four of them were shifted to the Bidar Institute of Medical Sciences (BRIMS), while the remaining students — including those without symptoms — were taken to the Aurad taluk hospital for observation and treatment.
Hospital authorities provided treatment to the children who showed symptoms and conducted health check-ups on the remaining students.
“All the students, including those who were shifted to BRIMS, have been discharged. We are now taking the children back from the hospital in ambulances,” the Bidar district Deputy Director of Public Instruction (DDPI) told Deccan Chronicle.
Deputy Commissioner Shilpa Sharma visited the Aurad taluk hospital and enquired about the health of the children. After reviewing their condition, she proceeded to Jamalapur village and inspected the government school where the incident occurred.
During the inspection, she interacted with officials and sought details regarding the quality of food served to the students and the circumstances that led to them developing symptoms.
District Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Dr Girish Badole and medical officers accompanied the Deputy Commissioner during the visit.
