KARWAR: Two men drowned after being swept away by strong waves in the sea at Mundalli Nasta beach in Bhatkal taluk of Uttara Kannada district on Wednesday evening.
The deceased have been identified as Mohammad Afroz (34) and Rizwan Sakir (27), both from Uttar Pradesh and working at a garment unit in Bhatkal. According to police, the two had gone to the beach along with a group.
It is said that the group was in the water when they were caught in the waves. While others survived, Afroz and Sakir drowned.
A case is registered at the Bhatkal Rural Police Station.
