Bengaluru Police, Maharashtra Task Force Seize Mephedrone Worth 1.2 Cr

BENGALURU: A two-day coordinated operation by sleuths of Bengaluru city police and Maharashtra Anti-Narcotic Task Force (ANTF) in Bengaluru city seized 4.2 kilograms of illicitly manufactured Mephedrone (MD) substance worth Rs 1.2 crore and 17 kilograms of raw materials.

The seizure was made with the support of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB). The operation by ANTF and Bengaluru City police led to the arrest of several individuals, and the accused persons were produced before the Devanahalli Court on December 26.

The seizure was conducted after Mumbai sleuths arrested Abdul Khader on December 21 on charges of allegedly possessing about 1.5 kilograms of Mephedrone. On the information provided by Abdul Khader, sleuths apprehended Prashanth Patil, a resident of Belagavi and his information on the drug trade pointed fingers to Bengaluru city, said a press release here on Sunday.

Maharashtra ANTF and Bengaluru City police, in their operation conducted in Bengaluru City at multiple locations, arrested Suresh Yadav at Katkanhali under Yelahanka Police station limits and another Malkhan Ramlal Bishnoi at Kannur under Baglur police station limits.

The coordinated operation led to the seizure of 4.2 kilograms of Mephedrone at a house in Yerappanahalli under the Avalahalli police station limits. Besides, the sleuths seized 17 kilograms of raw materials in liquid form and other chemicals stocked for preparation along with barrels, mixers and other equipment. The sleuths seized a mixer at N.G. Halli under the Kothanur police station limits.

In another seizure by the sleuths, the release said, raw materials stocked at a carpenter’s shed were also seized at Kannur under the Bagalur police station limits.

The release stated, “We conducted tests on finished 4.2 kilograms of Mephedrone substance, and the tests of the samples tested negative, which could be an impure substance. However, the general test tested positive for Amphetamine.”
