Bengaluru: Metro Yellow Line of 19.15 km Ready For Operations
Union Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal announced on his social networking account the opening of Namma Metro Yellow Line all set for inauguration from Prime Minister Naendra Modi in Bengaluru on Sunday

BENGALURU: Bangalore Metro's Yellow Line from R.V. Road to Bommasandra in Bengaluru city covering a distance of 19.15 km is all set for operations. The new route of Namma Metro would be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday.
Union Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal announced on his social networking account the opening of Namma Metro Yellow Line all set for inauguration from Prime Minister Naendra Modi in Bengaluru on Sunday and on the occasion, Modi will lay foundation stone of 44.65-km of Bangalore Metro phase-3 works at a cost of Rs 15, 611 crore.
The Namma Metro Yellow Line will start from R.V. Road Station and end Delta Electronics, Bommasandra. The route has 16 stations and the route runs along important tech corridors having renowned companies such as Infosys, Wipro, Biocon, Delta and Tech Mahindra have their offices. By opening the route, commuters will have better connectivity to surrounding residential areas, hospitals, educational institutions and small and large scale industries around Bommasandra.
Bharatiya Janata Party Lok Sabha member representing Bengaluru South seat Tejasvi Surya in July this year criticized Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) constant delays in opening of the Yellow Line. The works on Yellow Line started in 2017 and Tejasvi Surya stated the Yellow Line was meant to open for public service in 2021.
Surya stated as many as 10 deadlines for opening of Yellow Line were missed and he demanded BMRCL to come out with a definitive timelines for opening the Line.
Bengaluru incharge and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar inspected Yellow Line on Tuesday and he told reporters the Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety gave statutory safety clearance on July 31 and a request was made to Prime Minister Narendra Modi by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and him to open the Yellow Line.
