Bengaluru Doctor Held For Murdering Wife With Propofol Overdose

BENGALURU: Bengaluru police secured a government doctor identified as Mahendra Reddy from Udupi on charge of alleged murder of his wife Kruthika by injecting her with overdose of ‘Propofol’ a sedative used in anesthesia leading to her death in April this year under Maratahalli police station limits.

Mahendra Reddy is the prime accused in the death of his wife, said the Commissioner of Police Seemanth Kumar Singh and suspect “A malafide intention in the death of Dr Kruthika.”

The Commissioner of Police stated “It was Mahendra Reddy who ferried her to a hospital and never stated the reasons for hospitalization of his wife.”

Under Marathahalli police station limits, an unnatural death case of a woman was reported in April and the death of the woman was mysterious one. No one complained over the death of the woman.

The post-mortem conducted on the body of the deceased woman did not pinpoint the exact cause of the death. The post-mortem report of the deceased woman was “inconclusive,” said the Police Commissioner.

Seemanth Kumar Singh commended the police for gathering evidence properly in the death of the woman and subjected them for Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) tests. Recently, FSL tests revealed excess use of Propofol, a sedative injected to the woman causing her death.

Subsequently, based on a complaint from the father of the deceased, murder case investigation was taken-up by the police and the prime accused in the case, that is, the husband of the deceased woman has been secured.

Detailed investigation will be conducted into the death of the woman under Joint Commissioner of Police, said the Police Commissioner and assured to take the case to its logical end.
