Belagavi CCB Seizes Heroin Worth Rs 4.96 Lakh, Two Arrested

Police Commissioner Bhushan Gulabrao Borase commended the CCB team for the successful operation.

Belagavi: The CCB team of the Belagavi City Police has arrested two people and seized 24.80 grams of heroin worth Rs 4.96 lakh during a raid near the APMC Fruit Market complex in Belagavi. A woman from Mumbai alleged to have supplied the contraband has also been booked.

The operation was carried out by a team led by CCB Police Inspector Manjunath Nayak, along with PSI Manjunath Bhajantri and other personnel.

The arrested have been identified as Mahadev Gajanan Patil (28) of Patil Galli and Vinayak Balu Khandale (25) of Ramdev Galli.

According to police, the duo was allegedly found possessing and transporting heroin near the staircase of the APMC Fruit Market complex for sale when a CCB team conducted the raid on Thursday.

The APMC Police registered a case under Sections 8(c) and 21(b) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

The police also named a woman 'Amma' from Mumbai, alleging that she had supplied the heroin to the accused for distribution.

City Police Commissioner Bhushan Gulabrao Borase commended the CCB team for the successful operation.
