Mangaluru: A 17-year-old college student was allegedly attacked by a person with a machete while waiting for a bus near Montimaru bus stop in Bantwal taluk on Monday morning.
The accused, identified as Mohammed Javvar (28) later surrendered before the police.
According to the police, the incident occurred when the girl was waiting at the bus stop to travel to college around 8.45 am. The accused allegedly attacked her with a machete, inflicting injuries to her head and hand. He then walked into the Bantwal Rural Police Station and surrendered.
The injured girl was immediately rushed to a private hospital in Deralakatte. She is out of danger.
A case has been registered and investigation is underway to ascertain the motive behind the attack.
