Banner Removal Clash: CID Steps In

Gangavathi MLA G. Janardhan Reddy reiterated his demand that the case be probed either by a sitting judge of the High Court or handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

Bellary: A Criminal Investigation Department (CID) team led by Superintendent of Police Harsha Priyamvada arrived in Ballari on Sunday to probe the recent clash related to the banner removal incident, after the State government transferred the case to the CID.

Police officials said the case records would be formally handed over to the CID for further investigation.

Meanwhile, Gangavathi MLA G. Janardhan Reddy reiterated his demand that the case be probed either by a sitting judge of the High Court or handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

“If the police had acted honestly, MLA Nara Bharat Reddy would have been arrested by now in the banner violence case. Instead, under the pretext of a CID inquiry, time is being wasted. This is a strategy by the government to cool down the issue,” he alleged while addressing the media on Sunday.

Condemning the banner violence, Janardhan Reddy said the BJP would organise a massive protest in Ballari on January 17 under the party’s leadership.
