Ashoka Targets Kharge Over Poor State Of Schools In Kalyana Karnataka

Referring to a media report in Kannada, Ashoka claimed that 18,022 classrooms in Kalyana Karnataka were in need of repairs, of which 8,006 had been declared completely dilapidated and unfit for use by the Education Department. He alleged that children from poor families were being forced to study in unsafe classrooms with cracked walls and crumbling concrete roofs, putting their lives at risk

Kalaburagi: Leader of the Opposition in the Karnataka Assembly R Ashoka on Monday criticised Home Minister and Kalaburagi and Yadgir district in-charge Priyank Kharge over the poor condition of government schools in the Kalyana Karnataka (Hyderabad Karnataka) region, accusing the Congress government of neglecting basic educational infrastructure.

In a post on X, Ashoka asked when Kharge would write to Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to seek funds to repair dilapidated school buildings in the region.

“You and your family have been enjoying political power for decades after receiving the votes of the people of Kalyana Karnataka. Yet the region remains in such poor condition that it appears to be still under the rule of the Nizams. Your performance has become one of being zero in work and a hero in controversies,” he posted.

Referring to a media report in Kannada, Ashoka claimed that 18,022 classrooms in Kalyana Karnataka were in need of repairs, of which 8,006 had been declared completely dilapidated and unfit for use by the Education Department. He alleged that children from poor families were being forced to study in unsafe classrooms with cracked walls and crumbling concrete roofs, putting their lives at risk.

He alleged that Kharge spent more time making speeches before the media and courting unnecessary controversies than addressing developmental issues. Ashoka also criticised the Congress government, describing it as one without a full-time Education Minister, and questioned whether it had any concern for the future of poor children in Kalyana Karnataka.

“The ideological commitment and loyalty you display to impress your party high command should also be shown towards the people of Kalyana Karnataka, who voted for you and brought you to power, and towards the development of schools in the region,” he stated.

Alleging that Kharge had "completely failed" in his responsibility to provide even basic infrastructure to the people of Kalyana Karnataka, Ashoka asked him to stop "playing with the lives of poor children" and take immediate steps to repair the dilapidated school buildings.
