KALABURAGI: A 45-year-old man allegedly carried an explosive to his wife’s family home and triggered a blast on Tuesday morning, killing himself and his 15-year-old daughter and leaving four others seriously injured at Mataki Tanda in Aland taluk.
The deceased have been identified as Shivlal Baliram Rathod (45) and his 15-year-old daughter Veera. Shivalal’s wife Savita (40), son Vitesh (19), relative Surekha (30) and her son Vivek (12) were seriously injured in the explosion.
“They have been shifted to the hospital and are under treatment,” Kalaburagi SP Adduru Srinivasulu told Deccan Chronicle.
According to sources, there was a long-term marital dispute between Shivalal and his wife due to which she had stayed away with her children.
On Tuesday around 10 am, Shivalal arrived at the house with a bag. Moments later, a powerful explosion occurred.
The blast caused damage to the house and scattered household articles.
The blast resulted in the death of the person and his daughter. Four were critically injured and rushed to the hospital. Their condition is said to be critical.
According to the police, Shivalal was working in mines, and it is suspected that he must have procured explosives through some source.
