60 Proposals From Karnataka Unanswered By Union Governament, Said DyCM

BENGALURU: More than 60 proposals submitted by the Karnataka Government is pending with the Bharatiya Janata Party led National Democratic Alliance (NDA), stated Deputy Chief Minister Dr G. Parameshwara in New Delhi on Monday and asked “the Union Government to abandon its discriminatory approach instead extend its full support to the Karnataka’s growth.”
At an all-party meeting of Members of Parliament from Karnataka to discuss drought prevailing in the State, Parameshwara sought the cooperation of MPs to strive together to ensure the Centre released more than Rs 40,000 crore in grants meant for the State are pending with the Union Government.
Splitting the grants pending with the Union Government to Karnataka, Parameshwara stated Rs 5, 495 crore in special grants recommended by the 15th Finance Commission, Rs 3,000 crore for lake development, Rs 3,000 crore for Bengaluru’s Peripheral Ring Road, Rs 17, 554 crore pending under Jal Jeevan Mission and Rs 2,800 crore recommended by the 15th Finance Commission for critical rural infrastructure.
Continuing the grants pending for Karnataka, the Deputy Chief Minister stated the Union Government Rs 5, 400 crore for Upper Bhadra Project in its budget hey nothing substantial happened to release the grant assured, Rs 1,500 crore remains pending with the Union Government towards the procurement of agricultural produce under Minimum Support Price.
Expressing displeasure over the Union Government’s attitude, he said “The State’s appeal to the Union Government is not politically motivated but a Constitutional demand for justice and equitable development” and stated “Irrespective of the party in power at the Centre or in the State, Karnataka has always upheld the principle of cooperative federalism with utmost respect.”
