3 Year Old Girl Run Over By A Truck In Mandya, 3 ASIs Suspended

BENGALURU: A three-year-old child identified as Hritheeksha was run over by a truck near Swarnasandra of Mandya two on Monday at around 11 am. It is said the incident occurred when Hritheeksha was ferried on a two-wheeler by her parents from Maddur taluk to a hospital in Mandya town. On their way, the couple encountered policemen checking vehicles for documents, traffic violations if any.
Sources, the couple identified as Ashok and Vaani told the police to reach the hospital since their daughter was bitten by a dog. Policemen allowed the couple to proceed meanwhile a vehicle from behind collided with their two-wheeler resulting in the child falling on the road. As soon as the child fell, a truck ran over the child killing her on the spot.
An eyewitness said, a policeman let the couple go and soon another policeman intercepted the couple. At the same time, a goods vehicle collided with the two-wheeler resulting in the child slipping on the road and a truck ran over the head of the child.
Mandya Superintendent of Police Mallikarjun Baladandi placed three Assistant Sub-Inspectors-Jayaramu, Gurudev and Nagaraju under suspension over not following proper safety measures while doing checks on the vehicles.
