YSRCP Demands CBI Probe into DSC Scam, Calls for Lokesh's Resignation
YSRCP demanded the immediate resignation of Education Minister Nara Lokesh and called for an impartial CBI inquiry to bring out the truth behind the DSC scam
New Delhi: The controversy over the District Selection Committee (DSC) recruitment scam is intensifying in Andhra Pradesh.
Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) spokesperson Konda Rajiv has launched a strong attack on the coalition government, alleging large-scale irregularities and suppression of democratic protests in Vijayawada.
Speaking about the protest held outside the Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) office in Vijayawada, YSRCP spokesperson Konda Rajiv stated that the party had organised a democratic protest against the alleged irregularities in DSC appointments.
He demanded the immediate resignation of Education Minister Nara Lokesh and called for an impartial CBI inquiry to bring out the truth behind the DSC scam.
Questioning the style of governance in the state, Konda Rajiv asked whether Andhra Pradesh is being run under democratic rule or under a dictatorial "Red Book" rule. He demanded that both Minister Nara Lokesh and Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu respond to the allegations.
He further accused the coalition government of misusing police machinery to suppress dissent. He alleged that the government is trying to evade evidence and is resorting to intimidation and pre-planned violence against those who question its actions.
Konda Rajiv also alleged that police obstructed and detained YSRCP leaders and cadres during their protest, and claimed that TDP supporters, masquerading as teachers, launched attacks on them.
Reiterating the party's stand, the YSRCP spokesperson said the party will intensify its fight until justice is done to every eligible and meritorious candidate, and that all those involved in corruption must be held accountable through a transparent CBI investigation.
Earlier in the day, YSRCP leaders and workers staged a massive protest near the SAAP office in Vijayawada, demanding a CBI investigation into irregularities in Mega DSC-2025, particularly sports quota recruitments, and the resignation of Lokesh.
Police erected barricades and prevented protesters from reaching the SAAP office, leading to tense scenes at Labbipet. Police even resorted to lathi-charge while dispersing YSRCP protesters, and several leaders and activists were detained.
YSRCP leaders said the protest was peaceful and questioned why the government was using police force instead of ordering an independent investigation into the recruitment process. Party PAC member and former Vinukonda MLA Bolla Brahmanaidu joined the protest and demanded a comprehensive CBI probe to establish the facts and ensure justice to deserving DSC candidates.
