YSRC Wants Immediate Restarting Of Rayalaseema Lift Irrigation Works

The leaders accused the CM of deliberately stalling the Rayalaseema lift irrigation works to undermine former AP chief minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy. Earlier, they visited the project site in the Jupadu Bungala mandal on Tuesday.

ANANTAPUR: YSRC leaders from Rayalaseema on Tuesday demanded immediate resumption of the Rayalaseema Lift Irrigation Project, underlining that it is Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s responsibility to secure environmental clearances for the scheme from the centre.

The leaders accused the CM of deliberately stalling the Rayalaseema lift irrigation works to undermine former AP chief minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy. Earlier, they visited the project site in the Jupadu Bungala mandal on Tuesday.

The YSRC leaders included Nandyal district president Katasani Rambhupal Reddy, Kurnool district president S.V. Mohan Reddy, former minister Sake Sailajanath, MLCs Shivarami Reddy, P. Ramasubba Reddy and Kalpalatha Reddy, former MLAs Shilpa Chakrapani Reddy and Shilpa Ravichandra Kishore Reddy, and Nandikotkur constituency coordinator Dara Sudheer.

They objected to Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s statement in the state’s assembly that Rayalaseema lift works have been stopped at his request. They demanded that Chandrababu Naidu immediately clarify in case there is any such understanding.

The YSRC leaders pointed out that the Jagan Mohan Reddy government has completed nearly 85 per cent of the project. However, after the NDA alliance government took over, there has been no forward movement in the project during the past 19 months of the TD-led coalition government’s rule.

They maintained that the ruling party cannot hide behind the excuse that environmental clearances have not been received. “Chandrababu Naidu can use his good relationship with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to get the requisite clearances, they underlined.

The YSRC leaders said the reality is that the AP Chief Minister has used Telangana leaders to file cases in the National Green Tribunal obstructing the project, fearing that the credit will otherwise go to Jagan Mohan Reddy.

They warned that if the Rayalaseema lift irrigation works are not restarted immediately, YSRC will launch a mass movement, along with farmers and farmer unions.
