YSRC Says Union Budget Shortchanges Andhra Pradesh
Reddy said the primary highlight of the budget was fiscal consolidation.

Vijayawada: The Opposition YSRC on Sunday alleged that the Union Budget 2026–27 has failed to provide adequate allocations to Andhra Pradesh, particularly for infrastructure and rural development.
Addressing the media here, YSRC parliamentary party leader Y.V. Subba Reddy said funding for the Polavaram irrigation project had been reduced and the project’s height restricted to 41.15 metres, creating serious challenges for the state.
He alleged that only Rs.3,320 crore was sanctioned for Polavaram in FY27, despite repeated demands for enhanced funding to ensure timely completion, and accused the state government of failing to exert pressure on the Centre.
Reddy said the primary highlight of the budget was fiscal consolidation. He welcomed the move to reduce the fiscal deficit from 4.5 per cent to 4.3, describing it as a positive step for the country’s overall development. The total budget outlay for 2026–27 stood at Rs.12.21 lakh crore, up by Rs.1 lakh crore from last year.
Former finance minister Rajendranath Reddy termed the Budget disappointing, saying it ignored key commitments to AP. He also said AP was denied high-speed rail corridors, even as such links were sanctioned for cities like Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Chennai.
He expressed concern over reduced rural development allocations and said the party would raise the issue in Parliament.
