YSRC MLC Tumati Madhava Rao Assumes Office as Deputy Chairman

MLC Thota Trimurthulu and other members expressed concern over the absence of ruling party members when Rao assumed office

VIJAYAWADA: YSRC MLC Tumati Madhava Rao was unanimously elected Deputy Chairman of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council and assumed office on Wednesday.

Rao was ceremonially escorted to the podium by YSRC members in the absence of ruling party members when he took the chair.

Born in 1977, Rao hails from Polineni Palem in VV Palem mandal of Prakasam district and holds an MA degree. He was elected to the Council in December 2021 and his term ends in 2027.

Several YSRC members appreciated his commitment to working in the interests of the people and lauded his political acumen. Leader of the Opposition Botsa Satyanarayana congratulated him and advised him to give equal priority to ruling and opposition members in raising issues of public interest in the House.

Rao thanked those who congratulated him and said he would strive to live up to their expectations while discharging his duties as Deputy Chairman.
