YSRC MLC Alleges Nomination Obstruction In Kuppam

YSRC MLC K.R.J. Bharat alleged that Telugu Desam supporters obstructed YSRC candidates from filing nominations for local body elections in Kuppam.

YSRC MLC K.R.J. Bharat has alleged that Telugu Desam supporters filed nominations in the name of the YSRC in several places to prevent the opposition party from contesting the local body elections.

Addressing a press conference in Kuppam on Saturday, Bharat claimed that YSRC candidates were prevented from filing nominations in several areas, particularly in Ramakuppam mandal. He alleged that outsiders obstructed party candidates and that complaints submitted to the district SP, collector and returning officer had yielded no response.

Bharat said only the YSRC MPTC candidate from Peduru-89 had filed a nomination. He questioned the returning officer’s claim that 17 nominations had been filed on behalf of the YSRC in Ramakuppam, alleging that 16 were filed by TD supporters posing as YSRC candidates. He also alleged that YSRC candidates had been attacked in Shanthipuram.

Bharat said the party had approached the High Court with a lunch motion petition and demanded that the elections be conducted democratically. He challenged the ruling coalition to seek votes by highlighting its development record rather than allegedly obstructing the opposition.
