YSRC MLC Alleges ‘Irregularities’ in Nellore Corporation
The MLC alleged that house-plan approvals were taking two to three months despite assurances of 24-hour approvals.

Nellore: YSRC Nellore city in-charge and MLC Parvathareddy Chandrasekhar Reddy alleged irregularities in the functioning of the Nellore Municipal Corporation and questioned the appointment of Y.O. Nandan as municipal commissioner.
Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, he alleged that several controversial decisions had been taken in the corporation since the coalition government came to power. He questioned why an IAS or senior-rank officer was not appointed as commissioner and also questioned the transfer of IAS officer Surya Teja.
Chandrasekhar Reddy alleged that Rs 5 crore had been estimated for purchasing 10 costly buses for VR High School, while a quotation obtained by him indicated a cost of Rs 3.82 crore. He alleged that this raised questions over a possible Rs 60-lakh difference. He also alleged irregularities involving Rs 54 lakh in hiring bills.
He questioned a proposal to allot half an acre of irrigation canal poramboke land for a TD office, alleging that it was contrary to rules. He also criticised the corporation for initiating proceedings against people unable to pay property, water and drainage taxes.
The MLC alleged that house-plan approvals were taking two to three months despite assurances of 24-hour approvals.
He said the YSRC would approach the Election Commission over Nandan’s appointment as ERO and move the High Court against his appointment as commissioner.
He demanded that municipal administration minister P. Narayana respond to the allegations. The allegations were not independently verified.
