Police allege attempt to mislead probe in son’s fatal bike accident case
YSRCP leader and former minister Seediri Appalaraju has been taken into police custody in connection with a case involving his son in a fatal bike accident.
Police allege that Appalaraju attempted to mislead the investigation and tamper with evidence related to the accident, in which one person died.
His son, Arav, surrendered before the police on July 10. During the investigation, officials found that Arav was seen refuelling his vehicle at a petrol bunk at 9:07 PM on the day of the accident. The accident occurred just 500 metres away from the fuel station. Police further stated that Arav allegedly fled the spot in a car before officers arrived.
Initially, police did not name him as an accused. Instead, Siddhartha Thyadi, reportedly the son of an Appalaraju supporter, was included in the case and later granted station bail.
The incident came to light after a news report went viral, alleging the involvement of the former minister’s son in the accident. Following public criticism over the handling of the case, police conducted a detailed investigation, after which Arav surrendered before authorities.
