Young Athletes Shine at Rushikonda Water Sports Event
Officials said the event helped identify talent for higher-level competitions and encouraged youth participation in water sports
VISAKHAPATNAM: Young athletes who excelled at the district-level water sports competitions held at Rushikonda Beach on Thursday will represent Visakhapatnam at the state-level event scheduled for April 11 and 12 in NTR district.
The event, organised under the aegis of the Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP), featured kayaking, canoeing, dragon boat racing and rowing in sub-junior (U-15) and junior (U-18) categories for boys and girls.
The event was inaugurated by District Sports Development Officer (in-charge) M. Achyutha Kumar and Canoeing and Kayaking Association of Andhra Pradesh president B. Balaram Naidu, who appreciated the enthusiastic participation.
Coaches and staff of the district sports authority, including water sports coach V. Dasarao, were present.
