World Bank, ADB Review Amaravati Project Progress
The status of proposed PPP initiatives and the development of green buffer zones and parks by the Amaravati Development Corporation Limited
VIJAYAWADA: A joint delegation from the World Bank (WB) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) on Wednesday continued its review of the Amaravati Capital City Project, holding a series of meetings with Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) officials on the second day of its three-day visit.
The meetings, held at the APCRDA headquarters in Rayapudi, focused on worker safety, environmental safeguards, land pooling, grievance redressal, green infrastructure and public-private partnership (PPP) projects.
The delegation reviewed occupational health and safety (OHS) measures for workers engaged in capital city construction and assessed compliance with environmental and social safeguards, road safety norms and other prescribed standards.
It also reviewed the implementation of the Capacity Strengthening and Environmental and Social Management Plan (C-ESMP) and stressed the need for refresher training on occupational health and safety for contractors, project management consultants (PMCs) and technical personnel to ensure continued compliance with international standards.
The meeting was attended by APCRDA director (social development) Velugoti Ramulu, director (lands-capital city) K.S. Bhagyarekha and other senior officials.
The delegation also reviewed the progress of land pooling and land acquisition across the capital region and assessed the functioning of the Grievance Redressal Mechanism (GRM) established to address concerns raised by farmers and local residents.
Later, the team reviewed projects being implemented by the Amaravati Green Infrastructure Corporation Limited (AGICL), the status of proposed PPP initiatives and the development of green buffer zones and parks by the Amaravati Development Corporation Limited (ADCL).
