Worker Killed In Accident At Veligonda Tunnel-2
Water resources minister Nimmala Ramanaidu expressed shock over the incident and spoke to the project chief engineer and representatives of the contract firm to ascertain the details.

Nellore: A worker was killed in an accident during the removal of a Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) at Tunnel-2 of the Veligonda Project in Dornala mandal of the Markapuram district on Monday.
The deceased was identified by police as Montilal of Uttar Pradesh. According to preliminary information, the worker was sleeping when the tyre of a hydraulic vehicle ran over him while the vehicle was being reversed.
He suffered severe injuries and was being shifted to a hospital when he succumbed to his injuries on the way. Police have launched an investigation into the accident.

The minister directed officials and agency representatives to extend all possible assistance to the bereaved family of the deceased worker.
Expressing regret that the accident occurred when the project works were nearing completion, Ramanaidu stressed that workers’ safety must be accorded the highest priority during tunnel construction and related works. He instructed officials and the executing agency to take all necessary precautions to prevent such incidents.
