Woman Sedates Mom, Burns Her to Death
Police identified the deceased as Vuravakonda Ramadevi, 47, who lost her husband 20 years ago.
Vijayawada:A woman sedated her mother by offering a cup of tea laced with a high dose of sleeping pills and set her ablaze, at Sattenapalli in Palnadu district on February 8, a report claimed on Friday.
When the woman was asleep after the sedation, the daughter allegedly doused her with petrol and burnt her to death. She was “unable to bear the mother’s harassment,” as per the report.
Police identified the deceased as Vuravakonda Ramadevi, 47, who lost her husband 20 years ago. Since then, she was allegedly having relationships with several men.
The daughter Goli Lakshmi got married thrice. She claimed that her mother repeatedly encouraged her to divorce her husband and marry another man on some trivial grounds.
Sometime ago, Ramadevi reportedly sold her granddaughter. At present she had a grandson and a granddaughter.
Lakshmi was fed up as her mother was asking her to marry a man for the fourth time. She felt the woman ruined her life.
Police said, “She sedated and burnt her alive and ran away from her house.”
The police initially considered it to be a suspicious death but booked a case. In the course of investigation, they found from CCTV footage in the neighbourhood that Lakshmi ran away from the house after the incident. Her mobile phone was found switched off for two days thereafter.
