Woman attempts acid attack on lover
ANANTAPUR: A woman tried to attack her lover with acid for cheating on her while he was getting married to another lady in Annamayya district on Sunday. In the incident, the maternal aunt of the man suffered injuries after acid fell on her when she resisted the attack. The marriage was cancelled following the incident.
According to the police, Sayyad Bhasha’s marriage was fixed with a woman from Nandalur, and the marriage was scheduled at a Shadikhana in Nandalur in Annamayya district on Sunday. Relatives and friends of both families arrived for the marriage function. When marriage began according to customs, suddenly a woman named Jaya of Tirupati rushed to the venue in the function hall and tried to douse acid on bridegroom Sayyad Bhasha.
Bhasha, who was alerted to the attack, resisted the woman by attacking with a sharp knife that was in his hand and escaped unhurt from the acid attack. But acid fell on his maternal aunt and a few others gathered at the venue, leaving them with injuries. The woman was detained by the people in the function hall. The woman Jaya revealed the reason behind the attack that she had an affair with Sayyad Bhasha for the past ten years but he was getting married to another woman and cheated her. Nandalur police rushed to the spot and detained Jaya from the Shadikhana. However, marriage was cancelled following the incident.
