Will form poverty-free society with NTR's inspiration: CM Naidu

Anantapur:Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu declared that as long as Telugus live, Telugu Desam founder and former CM N.T. Rama Rao will remain in their hearts.
“He was the only leader who toiled hard for the self-respect of the Telugu community,” he underlined while launching the Swarna Andhra – Swachh Andhra programme at Mydukur in Kadapa district, coinciding with the 29th death anniversary of NTR on Saturday.
On the occasion, Chandrababu Naidu asserted that drawing inspiration from NTR, his government will target formation of a poverty-free society in Andhra Pradesh. He pointed out that Rama Rao had redefined politics, becoming an example for the whole world by bringing the Telugu Desam to power within nine months of its formation.
The AP CM recalled that Telugus had once been referred to as Madrasis. NTR gave recognition to Telugus as Telugus. Besides, the TD founder provided large-scale opportunities to BC leaders in politics. “Putta Sudhakar Yadav won the election from Mydukur assembly segment only because of NTR," he remarked.
Referring to development of the irrigation sector in Rayalaseema region, Chandrababu Naidu informed people about projects like the Telugu Ganga, Handri-Neeva and Galeru-Nagari. “It is as only because of NTR that Kadapa district now has the Gandikota project,” he maintained.
The Chief Minister charged YSRC leaders of Kadapa with spinning stories but doing nothing for the people of the district. He announced that Kadapa district will soon be transformed into a horticultural hub, He said the 90 per cent subsidy that the earlier TD regime gave for micro-irrigation had been withdrawn by the previous government.
"After coming back to power, we have reintroduced the subsidy for drip irrigation. We have totally eliminated factions in Kadapa. We are building a tunnel with an expenditure of ₹250 crore for the Kadapa airport. Soon, one will be able to travel anywhere from Kadapa airport," Chandrababu Naidu announced.
Reminding people about TDP having a record one crore members in AP, the CM said after Nara Lokesh assumed charge as TDP national general secretary, the latter has given the highest priority for the welfare of party activists. "We are now spending ₹130 crore for insurance and welfare of party cadres. We will certainly ensure that you all grow economically," he promised.
