During an inspection on Tuesday, the commissioner said that these initiatives would be taken up extensively under various development programmes.

Nellore: Commissioner of Nellore Municipal Corporation, Y.O. Nandan, announced plans to enhance the urban environment of Nellore. These initiatives include extensive plantation drives, installation of fountains, increased green cover and beautification with artistic painting works throughout the city.
During an inspection on Tuesday, the commissioner said that these initiatives would be taken up extensively under various development programmes.
He visited key areas such as Atmakur bus stand and Muthukur Road flyover areas and directed officials to plant greenery and complete decorative painting works. He also inspected the Smart Street Vendor Project at Mypadu Gate Centre and ordered that it be completed within the stipulated time.
In his sanitation and town planning review, Nandan ordered officials to identify and remove road encroachments and warned violators. He stressed that permanent constructions on drains or road margins, which obstruct desilting works, would be removed without exception.
At KVR Petrol Bunk, the commissioner checked a chicken shop’s trade license, pending taxes and hygiene standards, advising the owner to maintain cleanliness.
Former Nellore Mayor N. Bhanu Sri, engineering department EE Rahantu Jani, city planner Himabindu, horticulture assistant director Narasimharao and ward secretariat staff were present during the inspections.
