Wife, Lover Kill Onion Trader in Guntur
Police say the accused drugged the victim, smothered him to death, and tried to pass it off as a heart attack in Chiluvuru village.

Guntur: In a gruesome incident, a woman along with her paramour murdered her husband by smothering him with a pillow while he was asleep.
The victim went to sleep after eating biryani laced with 30 sleeping pills, police investigations showed, at Chiluvuru village of Duggirala mandal in Guntur district.
According to Duggirala police, Lokam Sivanaragarju, 45 hailed from Chiluvuru village and got married to Lakshmi Madhuri in 2007. The couple had two sons.
The woman used to work at a ticket counter in a film theatre in Vijayawada. She developed friendship with Kondaveeti Gopi, and this led to an illicit relationship.
The husband used to do onion business. She made him quit this, such work being an “insult” to the family, and sent him to Hyderabad to work in a car travels owned by Gopi. It provided security to omen employees who travel in cabs at night.
Later, Sivanagaraju came to know about his wife’s illicit relationship with Gopi. He asked her to give it up some five years ago. This caused problems in the family.
Two months ago, Sivanagaraju quit his job in Hyderabad and returned to the home village to stay there. Irritated over his presence at home, the wife allegedly conspired to eliminate him with the support of her paramour.
Police said, “On January 18, she prepared biryani and served it as lunch to Sivanagaraju after mixing it with the powder of 30 sleeping pills. Sivanagaraju slumped into a deep sleep.
The woman called in her paramour at night. Both smothered him to death with a pillow. In the process, the deceased suffered three broken ribs, a postmortem report showed.
Sivanagaraju allegedly used to make her watch porn videos when he was alive.
In the early hours of January 19, the woman raised a hue and cry, announcing to the family members and neighbours that her husband died of a heart attack.
However, before the last rites, the deceased’s relatives noticed bleeding from his ear and nose. This raised suspicion. Sivanagaraju's father subsequently lodged a police complaint.
The police booked a case of murder and took the woman into custody for questioning. “We are on the lookout for her paramour to take him into custody for questioning,” cops said.
