GVMC to halt pumping temporarily as faulty 700-mm Gosthani pipeline undergoes urgent repairs
Visakhapatnam: Drinking water supply to several areas under wards 6, 7 and 8 of the GVMC Madhurawada Zone will be disrupted on Thursday, August 20.
GVMC water supply maintenance division executive engineer Sudhakar said in a statement on Tuesday that the 700-mm-diameter main pipeline, which carries Gosthani River water for drinking water supply to the Madhurawada Zone, had developed a fault near the old Pepsi Company at Madhurawada. To carry out the necessary repairs, pumping through the 370 HP motor at the Gosthani Head Water Works has been temporarily stopped.
Consequently, drinking water supply will be affected in Rickshaw Colony, Vaibhav Nagar, Revallapalem, Bakkannapalem, PM Palem, Lakshmi Vanipalem, Ashok Nagar, PM Palem LICs and MIGs, R.H. Colony, K1, K2, K3 and M1 Housing Colonies, Amaravati Colony, NGOs Colony, parts of Midhilapuri VUDA Colony, Shipyard Layout and surrounding areas.
