Sircilla devotee submits saree in matchbox to Goddess
On the day, devotees belonging to a renowned handloom family from Sircilla in Telangana presented a silk saree packed in a matchbox to Goddess Sri Kanaka Durga. The extraordinary gift is a creation of handloom artist Nalla Vijay Kumar, who inherited the legacy from his father Nalla Parandhamulu.
The saree, five-and-a-half metres long and 48 inches wide weighs only 100 grams. It has been crafted entirely from silk threads and gold embroidery over five days.
Sri Vidya Narasimha Bharathi Maha Swamy, Peetadhipathi of Sri Sringeri Virupaksha Math, Anantapur, visited the Indrakeeladri temple and had darshan of the Goddess. The temple EO ceremoniously received the Peethadhipati with temple honours.
