Waste-Paper Collecting Family Gets House-Site Patta

On Thursday night, the Duttalur tahsildar handed over the house-site patta to the family at the tahsildar’s office, paving the way for them to build a permanent home.

Nellore:The Nellore district administration handed over a house-site patta to a family dependent on waste-paper collection following the intervention of state IT and education minister N. Lokesh.

The family’s plight came to the minister’s notice through social media. He directed Nellore collector Himanshu Shukla to assess their circumstances and provide assistance. The district administration subsequently coordinated with various departments to address the family’s housing, education, healthcare and livelihood needs.

Estheramma, Ashirwadam and their children originally belong to Brahmamgari Matham mandal in YSR Kadapa district. They moved to Narrawada in Duttalur mandal in search of a livelihood.

The administration is arranging admission and accommodation for their 10-year-old son, Purusha Ramaiah, who belongs to the ST Erukula community, at an APTWR residential school for boys in Nellore. ICDS officials have taken the child into their care for the admission process.

Medical assistance is being arranged for their daughter, who requires heart surgery. Steps are also being taken to provide treatment to the father, while the mother is being linked to a self-help group to strengthen the family’s livelihood.

Officials said the family would also be covered under eligible welfare schemes to support the children’s education and healthcare.

The family thanked minister Lokesh and collector Himanshu Shukla for their support.
