VP Poll: Naidu Backs Radhakrishnan
Brushing aside speculation that TD might consider backing Reddy, Naidu stressed that political alliances “cannot be sacrificed for sentimental reasons.”

Vijayawada:Chief minister and Telugu Desam leader Nara Chandrababu Naidu stated on Friday that his party would extend full support to NDA nominee CP Radhakrishnan in the upcoming Vice-Presidential election. Radhakrishnan is currently the governor of Maharashtra.
Naidu, currently in New Delhi, personally met Radhakrishnan along with TDP MPs. The CM cited his party’s “alliance dharma” and political credibility.
The Opposition INDIA bloc is fielding retired Supreme Court judge, Justice B Sudershan Reddy, of Telugu-origin, for the Sept 9 poll.
Brushing aside speculation that TD might consider backing Reddy, Naidu stressed that political alliances “cannot be sacrificed for sentimental reasons.”
“How can the opposition even expect that? We are in an alliance. Telugu Desam has always stood for the Telugu people, but here the issue is about a commitment to our alliance,” he told the media.
Naidu said, “If you compare in terms of candidature, he is the best candidate.”
The chief minister criticised the opposition’s strategy of having a rival candidate. “When there already is a majority for one candidate, why bring in another” That is their politics. We will not play such games,” he stated.
Earlier, the chief minister along with state finance minister Payyavula Kesav, Union minister Rammohan Naidu and MP Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu, met the chairman of the 16th Finance Commission, Arvind Panagariya, at Vyapar Bhavan.
They discussed AP’s rightful share of revenue. The commission’s recommendations will play a crucial role in ensuring equitable devolution of resources for the state’s development.
