VMRDA Rolls Out Rs 75 Crore Infra Projects in Pendurthi

The metropolitan commissioner assured that all road works would be completed within six months.

Visakhapatnam: The Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA) has launched a series of infrastructure projects worth approximately Rs 75 crore in the Pendurthi constituency, marking a significant boost to regional connectivity and civic amenities.

On Sunday, the chairman M.V. Pranav Gopal, Pendurthi MLA Panchakarla Ramesh Babu, and metropolitan commissioner K.S. Vishwanathan inaugurated a newly constructed convention centre in Chimalapalli, developed at a cost of Rs 8 crore. The officials also laid foundation stones for several road projects aimed at improving access across key areas.

Among the major initiatives, VMRDA has approved the expansion of a 3.12-km-long, 60-foot-wide master plan road in the Pinagadi area of Vepagunta for Rs 15 crore, fulfilling a long-standing demand from local residents. To further enhance regional connectivity, a 100-foot-wide master plan road linking Lankalapalem, Asakapalle, and Duvvada Railway Station roads will be developed at a cost of Rs 31 crore. Additionally, a 60-foot-wide road connecting Duvvada Railway Station to Gollalapalem and Amruthapuram is set to be constructed at an estimated Rs 24.50 crore. In Sabbavaram, a 40-foot-wide asphalt road from the Anakapalle National Highway to the Government Degree College has also been initiated, with a budget allocation of Rs 58.50 lakh.

Speaking at the event, Pranav Gopal reaffirmed VMRDA’s commitment to developing Visakhapatnam in line with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s vision. He emphasised that road infrastructure would be prioritised across all constituencies under VMRDA’s jurisdiction and assured that the existing master plan would be revised to reflect public needs.

The MLA thanked the VMRDA–NDA coalition leadership for swiftly approving and allocating funds for the road projects following his request.
