The commissioner said the schemes, introduced through G.O.Ms. No. 134 (MA&UD) dated July 26, 2025, and G.O.Ms. No. 1173 dated October 27, 2025, had received a significant response.

VIJAYAWADA: Vijayawada Municipal Corporation commissioner H. M. Dhyanachandra has urged citizens to make full use of the Layout Regularisation Scheme (LRS) and the Building Penalisation Scheme (BPS) notified by the Andhra Pradesh government.

The commissioner said the schemes, introduced through G.O.Ms. No. 134 (MA&UD) dated July 26, 2025, and G.O.Ms. No. 1173 dated October 27, 2025, had received a significant response. Under the LRS, the corporation has so far received and disposed of 1,338 applications, generating revenue of Rs 11.37 crore.

Similarly, under the BPS, notified through G.O.Ms. No. 225 dated November 12, 2025, as many as 1,089 applications have been received, yielding revenue of ₹1.57 crore.

Dhyanachandra explained that unauthorised buildings constructed between January 1, 1985 and August 31, 2025, or additional constructions made in deviation from approved building plans, are eligible for regularisation under the scheme. Eligible building owners must submit their applications on or before March 11, 2026, strictly through the online portal www.bps.ap.gov.in

Applications must be prepared and submitted by licensed technical persons along with all required documents through the online module. He also pointed out that the government has announced a 25 per cent rebate on regularisation charges for buildings constructed prior to December 31, 1997, subject to the submission of property tax receipts paid before that date.

The commissioner appealed to all eligible property owners to apply within the stipulated deadline and regularise their buildings. He warned that strict action would be initiated under existing laws against those who fail to apply or continue illegal constructions after the deadline.
