VIJAYAWADA: The Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) has stepped up arrangements for uninterrupted drinking water supply, sanitation and other essential facilities for devotees visiting the city for Dasara Sarannavaratri festivities, which began on Sunday.
VMC commissioner H.M. Dhyanachandra inspected Canal Road, Tollgate and Head Water Works areas and directed officials to prevent inconvenience to devotees. Special measures are being taken to ensure continuous water supply following a request from the Sri Durga Malleswara Swamyvarla Devasthanam management.
Dedicated water stock points have been established at key locations, particularly near long queues. Officials were instructed to distribute water proactively and replenish stocks before they run out.
Dhyanachandra also directed officials to clear waste regularly along roads, queue lines and water distribution points. Temporary toilets must be cleaned frequently and maintained properly.
He stressed continuous supervision of free baggage and footwear storage facilities to ensure smooth functioning.
