VMC Bags National Swachh Vayu Survey Award
VMC’s 60th ward secured second place in the ‘Best Performing Wards’ category at the national level, while the 31st ward was recognised as the ‘Best Performing Ward’ at the State level.
Vijayawada: Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) has earned another prestigious national-level recognition in the Swachh Vayu Sarvekshan-2026, conducted under the National Clean Air Programme of the Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.
VMC’s 60th ward secured second place in the ‘Best Performing Wards’ category at the national level, while the 31st ward was recognised as the ‘Best Performing Ward’ at the State level.
The awards were presented at a programme held in New Delhi on Monday. Municipal Commissioner H.M. Dhyanachandra received the award for the 60th ward from Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav. Along with the national-level recognition, the VMC received a cash prize of Rs 30 lakh.
The Municipal Commissioner said the 31st ward had also brought laurels to the city by securing the ‘Best Performing Ward’ award at the State level.
Meanwhile, the Guntur Municipal Corporation also received national recognition for its efforts to control air pollution. It secured second place in the Swachh Vayu Sarvekshan. National Green Tribunal chairperson Justice Prakash Srivastava presented the award to Guntur Municipal Commissioner Mayur Ahok at the programme in New Delhi.
