Vizianagaram grievance session to address revenue issues: HM

Visakhapatnam: Vizianagaram district in-charge and home minister Vangalapudi Anitha announced that a special grievance session will be held in the district to address revenue concerns during a review meeting on November 30. The meeting, conducted at the collectorate meeting hall, focused on various development and welfare initiatives in the district, with attention given to sectors such as agriculture, road construction, water supply, health, and electricity.

She emphasised the need to resolve revenue problems, particularly irregularities in the freehold of approximately 490 acres of land. She assured that strict action would be taken against the responsible revenue staff. Additionally, she instructed excise department officials to ensure the closure of belt shops and called for an action plan to prevent drinking water shortages in the upcoming summer.

The home minister also stressed the importance of timely road construction and repairs, regular cleaning of drinking water storage tanks, and the promotion of the toll-free number 1912 for electricity problem resolution.

State MSME, SERB, and NRI affairs minister Kondapalli Srinivas warned that land allotments for industries would be cancelled if industries are not established within the stipulated time. He announced plans to visit Bobbili Growth Centre to review the allocations and highlighted the increase in sugarcane cultivation as well as the challenges faced by the electricity department due to vacancies.

ZP chairman Majji Srinivasa Rao called for the restoration of the name Gorripati Buchi Apparao for the Tatipudi reservoir and suggested measures to prevent losses for sugarcane farmers. District collector BR Ambedkar outlined steps to improve sanitation and prevent drinking water contamination, including the removal of drinking water pipelines from canals in 11 mandals.

MP Kalisetty Appalanaidu proposed examining the possibility of purifying seawater for Bhogapuram airport, while S. Kota MLA Kolla Lalitha Kumari reiterated the need to restore the name Gorripati for the Tatipudi reservoir. MLC Indukuri Raghuraj discussed the Greenfield Highway contract.
