Vizianagaram Farmers Renew Protest Against Proposed Data Centre
Farmers argued that taking fertile agricultural land would threaten their livelihood and harm the local agrarian economy.

Visakhapatnam:Farmers in Bhogapuram mandal of Vizianagaram district staged a protest on Wednesday against the proposed data centre, urging the government to reconsider acquiring land for the project.
The protesters marched from the local panchayat office to the tahsildar’s office, raising slogans against the proposed acquisition. They submitted a memorandum to tahsildar Hemanth Kumar outlining their demands and concerns about the project’s impact on farmers’ livelihood.
The demonstration was the latest in a series of protests against the land acquisition for the data centre. Farmers argued that taking fertile agricultural land would threaten their livelihood and harm the local agrarian economy.
They had campaigned against the acquisition for several months and sought the authorities’ intervention to protect their land. Some affected landowners have also approached the courts to challenge the acquisition process.
The dispute has intensified the debate over balancing industrial and infrastructure development with protecting rural livelihoods. While the government maintains that the project will attract investment and stimulate economic activity in the region, farmers continue to demand a review of the acquisition plans.
