Vizag's New Mayor Prioritises Infrastructure Upgrades
Pila Srinivasa Rao called for cost-cutting measures within GVMC operations and stressed the importance of transparency in governance

Visakhapatnam: The Visakhapatnam’s newly sworn-in mayor, Pila Srinivasa Rao, has instructed Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) officials to prioritise essential infrastructure upgrades for the city. In his first official meeting with senior GVMC personnel on Monday, Pila emphasised the need to improve public health services, street lighting, sanitation and drinking water supply.
Acknowledging the challenges of the upcoming summer season, he directed the GVMC engineering drinking water department to ensure a steady and uninterrupted water supply across the city. Pila also urged officials to visit wards regularly and expedite any stalled projects. He called for cost-cutting measures within GVMC operations and stressed the importance of transparency in governance.
GVMC chief engineer K. Sivaprasada Raju revealed that Rs.8 crore has been allocated for water infrastructure improvements. The mayor also announced plans to visit wards daily to oversee the progress, highlighting his commitment to efficient civic administration
