Vizag: Secretariat Employee On Way To SIR Duty Dies in Road Accident

Visakhapatnam: A 29-year-old Secretariat employee died on the spot after being run over by a trailer near Marripalem on the National Highway on Wednesday evening. The deceased, identified as Betha Narendra Arun Kumar, was working as the Ward Amenities Secretary at the Vadlapudi Secretariat and was engaged in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) duty when the incident happened.
According to Airport Zone police, Arun Kumar, a resident of Kunchamamba Colony, 100 Feet Road in Gajuwaka, who was going on a two-wheeler and had reached near the GSI office when a car came too close to him. While trying to avoid it, he lost his balance and fell on the road. A heavy trailer truck coming from behind ran over him, killing him instantly.
Police shifted the body to King George Hospital for post-mortem and registered a case. Family members said Arun Kumar was married on November 27, 2025. His father, Apparao, is a tailor, and he is survived by his wife and a sister.
Vadlapudi Secretariat staff and colleagues expressed shock over the incident and demanded better traffic management and safety measures near Marripalem junction, which is known to be an accident-prone stretch.
