Visakhapatnam: One person died, and another was seriously injured after they attacked each other due to grudges flaring from an old dispute on Thursday. However, the weapons used for the crime were said to be missing under suspicious circumstances, raising fresh questions for police investigating a murder in the city. The incident took place at the CBM Compound Secretariat in Amar Nagar early Thursday morning.

According to Three Town police, the deceased was identified as Kinjarapu Gangadhar, 26, of Amar Nagar, and the injured as Kanta Siva Shankar, 36, of Gnanapuram. Both of them were drivers working in the city.

Three Town Police said that in January this year, Gangadhar and another man, Chanti, allegedly attacked Siva Shankar over a minor dispute, and a case was filed, and both were sent to jail and were later released on bail. Since then, Gangadhar borea grudge against Siva Shankar.

On Wednesday night, both of them had gone to Amar Nagar after they got the news of the death of a common acquaintance and stayed there overnight. Around 5:50 am, Gangadhar entered the nearby secretariat building, and Siva Shankar followed five minutes later. An argument broke out, and both stabbed each other.

Locals alerted police, who found both men lying in a pool of blood and shifted them to the hospital, and Gangadhar died while undergoing treatment. While locals claim they saw Siva Shankar going inside the building with a knife, police are yet to recover any weapons, prompting questions about who removed them.

Police have registered a case and launched a search for the knives as part of the investigation.
