Vizag Hosts Vibrant World Anglo-Indian Day Festivities

Visakhapatnam: The Anglo-Indian community of Visakhapatnam came together in a spirited celebration of World Anglo-Indian Day at Seethammadhara in Vizag, on August 2.
Organised by the Anglo-Indian Community Association of Andhra Pradesh, Visakhapatnam Branch, the event reflected unity, pride and cultural vibrancy. The day began with a solemn mass led by Rev Father Sibi of SFS Church, Madhurawada, attended by association leaders including president Edward Lazaro, vice president Judy Teresa White, special adviser June Gallyot Rodrigues and joint secretary Brian Martin Irwin, who underscored their commitment to faith and fellowship.

Chief guest Palla Srinivasa Rao, MLA and state TD president, recalled his days at St Joseph’s School, Malkapuram, and praised the Anglo-Indian teachers who shaped his values. He promised support for the community’s requests and lauded its contributions in railways, education, armed forces and healthcare.
The ceremony honoured distinguished Anglo-Indians for lifetime achievements, including Anita Pereira, Christabel Stevenson and Aubrey Bernard Hoyle, celebrating their dedication and success.
Musician Lemuel Stevenson electrified the gathering with nostalgic performances, encouraging the crowd to join in song and dance.
The evening concluded with a sumptuous dinner, leaving attendees with a renewed sense of pride and belonging, as they bid farewell to friends and family after a memorable celebration of heritage and unity.
