Vizag DIG Directs Destruction of Cannabis Network
Focus on cannabis eradication, women’s safety, cybercrime awareness, and property seizures in key meeting

Visakhapatnam: Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Gopinath Jatti of Visakhapatnam range reviewed the crime situation with superintendents of police from districts within the region on Tuesday, focusing primarily on eradication of cannabis as part of the Sankalpam programme.
During the meeting, Jatti issued clear directives regarding cannabis trafficking, consumption control, arrest procedures, property seizures and rehabilitation initiatives. The discussion covered strategies to combat cybercrime and enhance social media awareness programmes.
"Properties of individuals involved in illegal cannabis trafficking must be identified and immediately confiscated," the DIG underlined. He ordered enhanced surveillance at checkpoints and extensive inspections to curb transport of cannabis He directed officers to accelerate investigations, file charge sheets promptly and immediately execute non-bailable warrants against the absconding suspects.
Addressing crimes against women and children, Jatti recommended opening special history sheets against accused individuals and promoting wider use of the Shakti app and Shakti teams for women's safety. He wanted self-defence training sessions organised throughout the districts.
With cybercrime incidents on the rise, the DIG called for widespread awareness programmes to educate citizens about online fraud prevention. He instructed officers to inform the public about immediately reporting cybercrime incidents to the toll-free number 1930.
Those who attended the meeting included district SPs Tuhin Sinha, Amit Bardar, Vakul Jindal, Maheshwar Reddy and Madhava Reddy, apart from senior police officials from across the Visakhapatnam range.
