Visakhapatnam collector M. Abhisikth Kishore directed officials to speed up pending arrangements at polling stations, strong rooms and election material distribution centres for the 2026 GVMC elections.

Visakhapatnam district collector and district election officer M. Abhisikth Kishore on Thursday directed officials to expedite arrangements for the 2026 Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) elections and complete pending work at election material distribution centres, strong rooms and polling stations without delay.

Accompanied by GVMC additional commissioner K. Ramesh and other officials, the collector inspected the election material distribution centre and strong rooms at Government Polytechnic College in the North Zone. He also visited polling stations at Jnana Niketan School, BHEL Township, and Zilla Parishad High School in Gajuwaka.

After reviewing the facilities at the distribution centre, he directed officials to ensure adequate arrangements for reception, public address systems, food supplies, transport and accommodation for polling personnel. He also called for clear signage to help voters identify polling stations.

At Jnana Niketan School, Kishore ordered the installation of barricades to prevent crowding and directed officials to remove construction and demolition waste from the premises immediately.

During inspections in Gajuwaka, he expressed dissatisfaction over incomplete work and instructed officials to complete all pending tasks without delay.

Interacting with police personnel, the collector stressed the need for coordination between election and police officials to prevent disruptions and ensure smooth polling.

Senior officials from the revenue, engineering and police departments accompanied him during the inspections.
