Vizag Athlete Jyothi Yarraji In Team Representing India At 20th Asian Games
The Vizag athlete secured her Asian Games berth at the National Inter-State Athletics Championships in Bhubaneswar on June 24, 2026, clocking 13.14 seconds in the heats, before improving to 12.99 seconds in the final.
VISAKHAPATNAM: Visakhapatnam athlete and national record holder Jyothi Yarraji has been selected to represent India at the 20th Asian Games being organised at Aichi-Nagoya in Japan from September 19 to October 4.
The 27-year-old Olympian is returning to competitive athletics after recovering from an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury.
Jyothi holds the national record of 12.78 seconds in women’s 100-metre hurdles. She has won a silver medal at the Hangzhou Asian Games and a gold medal at the Asian Athletics Championships.

Visakhapatnam District Athletics Association has congratulated Jyothi on her selection and expressed confidence over her securing medals for the country at the Aichi-Nagoya Games.
The 20th Asian Games will feature around 15,000 athletes and officials from 45 countries. Organisers have arranged accommodation for nearly 4,000 to 5,000 athletes aboard the cruise liner Costa Serena, berthed at Nagoya Port, instead of a conventional Athletes’ Village. This is reportedly due to shortage of quality accommodation at the village.
