Vizag Airport Sees Robust Growth, Increased Global Connectivity in 2025
This pattern remained consistent throughout the year, with domestic passenger numbers being 2,61,710 in November.
Visakhapatnam: Visakhapatnam International Airport posted a strong all-round performance in 2025, handling over 27.5 lakh passengers, nearly 19,000 flights, and close to 4,900 metric tons of domestic cargo, apart from expanding its global connectivity. Its on-time performance has been 81.5 per cent.
The airport received and saw off 27,55,635 passengers between January and November, marking a 9.29 per cent year-on-year increase, compared to 25,21,249 passengers handled during the same period in 2024. Monthly passenger traffic consistently exceeded 2.2 lakh throughout the year.
Domestic operations dominated traffic volumes, with January witnessing 2,61,636 passengers (130,100 arrivals and 131,536 departures), while international operations contributed 11,107 passengers (5,599 arrivals and 5,508 departures) during the same month. This pattern remained consistent throughout the year, with domestic passenger numbers being 2,61,710 in November.
Vizag airport handled a total of 19,136 flights between January and November 2025. January recorded the highest movement with 2,018 total flights (1,932 domestic and 86 international), while September saw the lowest at 1,760 flights (1,694 domestic and 66 international).
Despite the high volume of operations, the airport maintained an overall on-time performance of 81.54 per cent, with 654 flights delayed beyond 30 minutes, resulting in an 18.46 per cent delay rate.
The airport handled 4,902.876 metric tonnes of domestic cargo during the period, comprising 1,955.369 metric tonnes outbound and 2,947.507 metric tonnes inbound. March 2025 witnessed peak cargo movement with 593.195 metric tonnes (338.351 outbound and 254.844 inbound), while October recorded the lowest at 340.374 metric tonnes. The airport consistently handled more than 340 metric tonnes of domestic cargo every month.
However, international cargo movement remained nil during the entire January-November period.
